- [Voiceover] When 3D modeling, there are always some basic things to keep in mind. Regardless of what the asset is for, the end goal should be the same: to create geometry that is clean, has nice edge flow, subdivides efficiently and deforms properly if needed. And also textures beautifully. Plain and simple, it needs to work for what the project is. Modeling for virtual reality, however, follows the rules of real-world building, moreso than for anywhere else because of what can be seen in virtual reality, and that is, just about everything. So here are some simple guidelines to to help. Take a look at how we can deal with models more effectively to build them for virtual reality, and one of these ways is I recommend you always build with quads. The reason is, it keeps a nice clean uniform mesh. Most of the tools in 3D modeling applications are quad-based, you know, things like Extrude. I mean, sure you can get away with using most, some of these tools with triangles, but with quads…
