Join Alan Thorn for an in-depth discussion in this video Completing environment lighting, part of Unity: 3D Level Design.
- [Instructor] In the preceding movie,…we managed to remove all of the lighting from the level…so that we have an environment here…that is completely black and dark,…and has no lighting at all.…And now I want to start adding artificial lighting…to the environment to create ambience and atmosphere.…Now because this is a level design course,…and primarily what we are doing is building…a prototype level to which we would add…final refined assets, the lighting that we create…doesn't necessarily need to be of a final production value,…but rather it needs to convey the central aesthetic…that we would apply to the final level…when we produce the final version.…
So what I'm going to do here…is start to add the lighting to the level…that is going to convey the general aesthetic.…Now right now, of course, inside the scene viewport,…we can't view anything of the level at all…because all lighting is removed.…We can deactivate the lighting preview…from the scene viewport here,…by moving to the toolbar and clicking…on the lighting preview.…
