- There are a few more letters to complete the minuscule Italic alphabet. I've give them their own separate video because they have a few quirks that I want to highlight. The f is the only letter that goes through all three spaces. The biggest challenge in making an f is to keep a steady hand and a consistent pen edge angle throughout the full stroke. I like to imagine a heavy stone tied to my elbow. Once I start the stroke, that stone keeps pulling my hand straight down. Start with the same flat curve that we've used on the a family of letters and some of the other letters. Now, we're up in the ascender space. So there's that same flat curve. Now, we're going to place our nibs right into that curve, curve out of it slightly and head all the way down to here. It's a long way. Curve out slightly. And then we're going to add that last curve back in and we're going to flatten our nibs for the crossbar slightly. Keep it nice and short. It shouldn't be extending beyond here or beyond here.…
