Checkpoints: How did you do?
- Now that you've practiced your capitals, it's a good time to compare your letters to the ones on your chart. Look closely and carefully at your practice sheets. Look for your very best letters and make a tiny pencil check mark next to the capitals that most closely match your chart. These comparisons will help you develop your critical eye. Here are some checkpoints that will help you judge how well your letters match the letters on the chart. Looking over your practice sheets as a group, do your letters look full, strong, and majestic? Check the weight of the stems, the vertical strokes, compared with the horizontal strokes. Do the stroke weights match the chart? And do they match each other? Look at the widths of your capitals. The M and the W should be the widest letters, then the D, O, Q, and C, and the G. The H and the N are also fairly wide, though not as wide as the curved letters.
