- [Instructor] Visualizing a project is the first step to understanding your development process with Kanban. It links up with the principle of start with what you do now, and build from there. As I mentioned, value streams and workflow maps are two great tools for breaking down your process into manageable truthful steps. I say truthful here because it's easy to omit or add steps in your development pipeline when it comes time to actually put pen to paper. Be as honest as possible here, even if it means leaving out a step that you're supposed to be doing, but aren't. Let's start by creating a workflow map. The idea here is simple. Take a small feature that has already been delivered and break it down into its development steps. If you want, you can include the estimated work versus wait time for each step, which results in a value string map.
