- [Instructor] When working in reality or documentary from day one, the editor is often writing the story and the script almost from scratch. If you're lucky enough to work on an unscripted project that has a set shooting schedule and scenes or scenarios that have been outlined for you, then the color system that I outlined in the previous lesson would've been very helpful. But often times you may be finding the story from the very first day, in which case, you would most likely skip using the process that I outlined there and go right to assigning colors to break down your story. I find it absolutely invaluable to have a color representation of all of my story points so I can visually write the story on my board first, then begin to outline and assemble my footage based on this board.
