The Tor Browser

[Instructor] The Tor Browser is the primary tool used by end users to access the Tor network. The Tor Browser is a simple application, available for download from The Tor Project website. We're going to cover downloading and installing the browser, later in this course. But for now, just know that it's available for Windows, Mac, and many variants of the Linux operating system. You can see the different versions of the Browser, here on the Tor website. When you open the Tor Browser, it runs through a startup sequence that involves connecting to the Tor network. During this process, Tor is creating a unique path through the Tor network for your communication, randomly selecting a set of Tor nodes for your circuit, as a part of its guarantee of anonymity. Once the circuit is established, Tor opens a browser window that looks just like any other web browser. In fact, this is a version of Mozilla Firefox that is modified to work with the Tor network.
