Using the workplane

Now we use the Workplane tool to give us a little more freedom as we create the rest of our knob. So, I want to start by actually flipping our knob upside down, so that we can work on the back of it. I'm going to use this rotate handle and hold down the Shift key to help me snap to 180 degrees. All right. And so, my next step is that I really want to add a cylinder, on top of this plane here. But if I drag a cylinder in the space, you see that it's almost impossible for me to get it up there. So get rid of this one. And this is where the Workplane tool comes in, and becomes really useful. I'm going to drag the work plane into the space, and I'm going to drop it on the top plane here, the back of our knob. And so now notice, we have this blue outline that shows us where our standard work plane is. And now we have this new orange one and when we drag objects into the space, the bottom of the object will be placed on that plane. Now I'm going to change the dimensions of this cylinder…
