Importing 3D STLs

- [Instructor] You can import 3D STL files into Tinkercad. This makes it easy to incorporate 3D printable parts that you find online, like a phone case. Or bring in 3D scans to make simple modifications, like adding holes. Let's try it. Use the import option from the toolbar and choose a file. We'll choose lion head reduced dot STL and click open. You can adjust the scale or the dimensions and then choose import. I'm using a 3D scan of a plaster lion head from my course 3D scanning with the camera. I've already reduced the resolution of the finished file from the course. So it's within Tinkercad's max size of 25 megabytes. Now depending the complexity, the import can take a minute or so. And once the 3D file's imported, you can scale it, group it with other shapes to make a more complex project. You can look for STL files on sites like Thingiverse or YouMagine.
