Correcting the video horizon with the Theta metadata tool
- [Instructor] Okay check this out. I took the Theta and I mounted it on a GoPro suction cup and stuck it to the side of my motorcycle and went for a ride and I've got the result here. That was my hand. Okay, so watch what happens as the bike accelerates. The horizon tilts a lot and then, as the bike gets up to speed, it levels back out. I'm gonna back this up and rewind it and let's pan around so that we're looking backwards. I'm gonna play it again. That's still my hand. Okay watch the horizon there as I accelerate, it dips down a little bit, as I get up to speed, it comes back up. The Theta has accelerometers inside it that automatically work to level the resulting VR so that the horizon is always straight. Well those accelerometers can be screwed up by acceleration. So as the bike accelerates, even though the Theta is staying stable, the accelerometers are tilting and that's messing up my final video.
