About the Author
Tanya Staples is the Senior VP of Content + Production and Chief of Staff at lynda.com. Tanya began her lynda.com odyssey over 10 years ago as an author and online video creator. Driven by her passion for education, she joined the company full-time, and has worked closely with co-founder Lynda Weinman to ensure her teaching style and philosophy are represented in all lynda.com instructional content. She now oversees both the Content Management team who defines the content strategy and the Production team who executes against that vision.
Before lynda.com, Tanya earned two bachelor's degrees, the first in art history from the University of Guelph and the second in education from the University of Ottawa. With a strong background in technical writing, Tanya became a project manager at Corel, where she worked with their Corel Painter product line. Throughout her education and her career, Tanya developed a teaching style that takes complex, technical topics and makes them simple and easy to understand.
She also plays an active role in the figure skating community, where she competed in seven Canadian National Championships for synchronized skating, managed the Fine Line Synchronized Skating Team, and serves as a board member for the Gloucester Figure Skating Club. Tanya recently helped launch Required Element, a San Jose-based company specializing in practice wear and competition wear for ice skaters.
Tanya is married and has a son in second grade. She continues to skate to this day and enjoys playing an active role in her son's education.
