Tableau 2018 introduces a wide range of new features, way too many to cover in this course. This video describes the new features covered in this course, which provide many useful and powerful tools you can use to analyze and visualize your data.
- [Instructor] Before I describe how to…perform specific tasks in Tableau 2018,…I wanted to give you an overview…of what is new in the program.…First, you can connect directly…to spatial data from Microsoft SQL Server.…So, for example, you might have geographic data,…and rather than needing to export it…to a comma-separated value file or another format,…you can connect to it directly.…Second, you can filter based on hierarchical data,…and these are hierarchies that you create.…Currently in the program, you have time as a hierarchy.…
You have year at the top, followed by quarter,…then month, then week, and then day.…If you want to create your own hierarchies, you can,…and filter based on them.…Next, you can display a visualization in a tooltip.…So rather than having, for example,…the name of a product and the amount of its sales,…you can also display a visualization…that summarizes that data visually…rather than simply using text.…You can apply step and jump lines…to a line chart visualization.…
There are also expanded web authoring capabilities.…
