Sometimes you cannot get all the information into a single dashboard, usually with very good reason. Matt Francis introduces the Go to Sheet action and shows how it allows an easy way to navigate between different dashboards meaning you can keep each one clean and purposeful.
- [Narrator] One actions that's really useful for … navigating are go to actions … And what these allow us to do is it enables a user … to move between different dashboards within our workbook … by either selecting a mark or by using a button option. … Now the go to action works best as a menu item … because it just feels better than clicking … on a mark and suddenly being … flipped over to a different dashboard. … But we can also do that same behavior as a button object. … Unlike other actions, the go to action doesn't pass … any values to the dashboard that we're going to. … It's simply is a navigational tool. … So how do we go ahead and build one of these? … So in this example we have our top level dashboard, … which is our summary one, … and then I have another dashboard which is a bit … more detailed break down of categories. … What I want to do is start off with our top level dashboard, … but give somebody the option when they interact with … the dashboard to be able to drill down to the other one …
