Some values, such as dates, require special handling in Tableau. If you want to display one of those values in the Rows or Columns shelf, you can change the value type from a measure to an attribute.

So over in the dimensions area,…you see that I have dates for projected completion…and when the proposal is required.…If I want to add the Proposal Required field,…which is a date field, to the rows area,…I can drag it there.…And you see that I get the year.…And of course, I can click the Show Detail button…to display the quarter, then the month and so on.…However, if I want to display the entire date,…then I can display the value as an attribute.…
