Find the absolute value or sign of a number

- Most of the time, when you evaluate data, you'll be interested in the value itself. For example, daily profits of $5,000 or a loss of 2,100. If all you care about is the difference from zero, which is called the absolute value, or whether a value is positive or negative, you can readily determine those characteristics using the functions I'll show you in this movie. My sample file is the Absolute Workbook, and you can find it in the Chapter Three folder of your Exercise Files collection. This workbook contains a single sheet and on it, I have a visualization with the actual spending for a given product category, and then also the target spend for that category. And my ultimate goal is to determine the amount of money either above or below, not worrying about the sign, and also indicate whether a particular category was within budget or above budget.
