- [Instructor] Logistic regression is a supervised training algorithm. That means for the training data set and the test data set, you already know the outcome. And what you want to do is develop a logistic regression algorithm that gives you the best possible result, based on your own criteria. We'll be using logistic regression to distinguish between two potential types of patrons for a non-profit. The idea is that we run a non-profit, and we have patrons who have donated in the past. Based on the past five years of their donation history, we want to predict which ones are at risk of not donating in coming years. That will allow us to reach out to them. So we will train our model, and then test and evaluate it. Typically you divide data into about 70% for a training set and then 30% for a test set.
