In many cases you will collect data with two attributes, which you can then graph using a scatter plot. For example, if you tracked temperature and rainfall, you could plot temperature on one axis and rainfall on the other and look at the resulting scatter plot to see if there’s a pattern. Circle view and side-by-side circle plots add extra dimensions to this capability.
- [Instructor] When you bring data into Tableau,…it's very likely that your data will have…some sort of category associated with it.…That category or non-numerical information…could perhaps be a date or it could be a category of product…or even the city in which a hotel is located.…In this movie, I will show you how to compare…two numerical values using scatter plots…where one value is plotted on the vertical, or Y-axis,…and the other is plotted on the horizontal, or X-axis.…
My sample file is the Scatter workbook…and you can find that in the Chapter10 folder…of your Exercise Files collection.…This workbook contains data about two values.…Visit Length, which is a number,…and Visit Revenue, which is also a number.…And I'd like to see the relationship between…the length of time a customer stays at my hotel…versus the amount of money that they spend…in addition to just the basic room rate.…To do that I need to add my values to the visualization…so I will double-click Visit Length…to add it to the rows area…and then I'll double-click Visit Revenue…
