Create calculations using arithmetic operators

- Arithmetic operators such as those for addition and multiplication will be familiar to tableau users who have experience with this program or spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel. In this movie I'll describe arithmetic operators available to you in tableau and show you how to include them in your calculations. I'll start with the plus sign which is used for addition. You can use it for numbers, dates and also to add multiple strings together which is called a concatenation. As an example, let's say that you had two hundred and fifty dollars of unexpected revenue, then you could take the sum of revenue which would be sales for the day and add two hundred and fifty. You could also calculate the date 60 days from the start of a project. That would use the field value of start date plus 60. Subtraction works very much the same way. You can use it for dates and for negation in addition to numbers so if you wanted to find your net revenue after commission, you could take the…
