Count all values or distinct values in a data set

- [Voiceover] Counting things, the task for which arithmetic was invented, isn't as glamorous as standard deviations or percentile rankings, but it is useful in many business contexts. In this movie, I will show you how to count the number of items in a group, as well as the number of distinct items. My sample file is the Count Workbook, and you can find it in the Chapter Two folder of your Exercise Files collection. In this workbook, I have a single worksheet, and on it, I have a visualization that shows the product category, my five product categories, and the total of the cost of the orders that were placed for each of those categories. Let's say that I want to see something different, that I want to see the number of orders for each of those categories. If I want to do that, I can go to the Data panel. And at the bottom, under Measures, you'll see Number of Records. And if I drag Number of Records to the Marks card and put it on top of Text, then I have the total cost of the…
