Cleaning data using calculated fields

- [Male Narrator] Calculated fields are a way to add additional data to your data set by modifying existing columns to create a new column of data. Now the way that calculated fields work in Tableau Prep is identical to the way they work in Tableau Desktop. Now calculated fields are a massive subject, and we're not going to go into too much detail here. If you want to learn more about calculated fields, then you can check out my course on Tableau 10 for Data Scientists where I go into calculated fields in much more detail. So let's look at the calculated fields example that we have here. I'm looking at this Superstore's sales data set. Now, one of the fields we have here is quantity, so that's the amount of items in each order. And we can see we have a range of values in here. Now say, for example, I want to highlight all of the sales that were above 10, and I want to know for each sale, was it higher or lower than 10. So for that, I'm going to use a calculated field.
