The filter section

- [Narrator] In subtractive synthesis we start with our oscillators to generate sound and then certain frequencies are subtracted using filters to further sculpt the sound. Sylenth features two filters, one filter for part A and another for part B. So we have filter A and B. We also have a global control for both of these filters and we'll talk about that in just a second. First, let's take a look at how the filter section in Sylenth works. So in our initialized patch our filter is bypassed by default and I'm just gonna do that now. So now it's bypassed. We can enable the filter in the drop-down menu. First we have a low pass filter. Now a low pass filter is going to allow the lows to pass and reduce high frequencies based on where we set the cutoff. A high pass is just the opposite, so it's going to reduce low frequencies and allow the highs to pass based on where we set the cutoff. Now we have a band pass as well which is going to reduce both highs and lows. There's also another…
