Working with distortion
- [Narrator] Sylenth features five types of distortion. Overdrive, foldback, clip, decimate and bit crush. Each type features a different sound and harmonic content. You can switch between the types by clicking on the arrow button. The amount knob sets the harshness of the distortion. A low amount will produce a soft distortion effect which can be used to add warmth to a sound similar to an analog tube amp and a high amount can be used to create a much more distorted sound. The dry wet control essentially works to pass the signal through the distortion our dry unaffected signal so if it's all the way to zero that's going to be only the dry signal with no distortion applied. And if it's all the way to wet that's going to be only the distorted signal. So let's check out these distortion types and I also have an oscilloscope here so you can see how it's kind of affecting our waveforms.
