- [Wesley] Hi, I'm Wes McDermott, and I'm a Substance Specialist at Allegorithmic working on integrations and training, and I'd like to welcome you to this Substance Painter training course. In this course we are going to take a beginner's look at how to use Substance Painter. We will start with the basics of creating a project and importing assets as well as using the integrated baking system. We will then begin to focus on working with materials and layers and understanding the brush tool set. Once we have worked through some of the foundational concepts, we will then fully texture a weapon asset step by step.
Finally, we will finish up the course by learning to create portfolio renders using Iray, the integrated path tracing renderer in Substance Painter. By the end of this course you will have a solid understanding of the workflows and tool sets in Substance Painter, and you'll be set to begin working on your own projects. I look forward to taking this journey with you and hope you not only learn the tool set but have fun as well. So let's head out on our path to learning Substance Painter.
