What is a substance graph?
- [Instructor] Having noted in the previous exercise that substance packages are able to hold multiple substance graphs, it would probably be good for us to also know just what a substance graph is. Well this, perhaps unsurprisingly, is a graphy layout that contains all of the code snippets, or nodes, that have been used to put a substance material together. Going beyond that, though, the graph can also be used to determine which, if any, output controls are made available to the end texture artist. The graph can also hold author information for the material, such as the name of the substance creator, and maybe even a website address to go look at. In simple terms, though, we can say that substance graphs are the place where we make our materials. Now it is possible to create an entire texture, or material set, inside just a single substance graph. Which is totally fine, if we're happy to use that particular workflow.
