- [Instructor] Although normal maps can be brilliant for adding both small and even large details to a texture, once we get up close to a material, the illusion of depth can well, quickly be broken. And because of this, knowing how to reuse the normal information that we may have already created in our flow, in order to generate a height map for displacement, well, this will most certainly help on those few occasions where it is really needed. Coming to the 08 Nav point then, we can see that we have one of our Normal to Height HQ nodes already in place in the scene. Although the node name might be a little self-explanatory, we can see that well, it actually requires a color input in order to work correctly. This color being our normal map information. Now, in this instance, you can see that we are simply piping in the end result of our normal node into the height map but ideally, what we would want to do is pipe each…
