- [Voiceover] Riding in on the coat tails of the PreSonus Studio One 3 update comes PreSonus Studio One 3.2. This free update to Studio One users offers some pretty extensive new features and tools in the app. Here in this chapter, I will add on to the Up and Running with Studio One course, and we will be adding more chapters like this as future significant updates take place. Before exploring how to put the new and awesome features of 3.2 to work, let's take a quick look at how to get the free update if you haven't done so already.
One of my favorite features of Studio One is when you open the app, you always get a heads up to new developments from the Start page as we see here. And over on the right, we have the News Feed which is updated from time to time. Of course, the headline right now is that Studio One 3.2 is available. And if you click here, it takes you to a webpage that tells you all the things you need to know about the new update. You can watch videos, you can see everything that's new, and it takes you right here. So it's got all these news features about the new Studio version.
So once we're convinced to update, we can go back to the start page here, and we can go down to the bottom and where it says check for updates, it'll see if our system has been updated or not. And first you have to enter your PreSonus user name and password for your account. And here it tells me that there is indeed a new version available. So you can see I have version 3.1 currently installed, and the new version 3.2 is available, so we can go here to Update, and it's going to automatically download the software.
And once that's done, it brings us right into the Installer. So this is pretty simple. All you need to do is drag it into your apps folder and the update takes place. It's asking me to replace the old one. I do want to replace the old one because I'm putting the new one in there. And here we go. So it's a pretty fast and simple update, and it's all managed from the start page. There we go. Now, I have to relaunch Studio One. So I'm going to go into my Applications folder in this case.
And we'll go down and find Studio One 3, and once we relaunch it, it's going to go through and check all my plugins and all that stuff. And we're back to the start page where we begin, and if I check for updates now, it should say that we are up to date. So that is always a good reminder and it's nice to come here from time to time just to see if there's any sort of bug-fix updates. And when it's something big like 3.2, you're going to be notified in the News Feed, but you know, you always want to go there every couple months just to see if you have the most current version and that'll keep your system running smooth.
And 3.2 is definitely more than just a bug-fixer update. In the videos to come, we'll be exploring the new mix engine effects and console shaper tools, working with the new VCA faders, workflow enhancements, zooming and transport enhancements, instrument track bouncing options, and new mixing and automation tips and techniques. So stay tuned for this chapter where we'll update everything you need to know about the 3.2 update to PreSonus Studio One.
