Before we start using Storyline to author interactive E-learning content, let's get a feel for what Storyline really is. If you're an experienced user of an earlier version of Storyline, you can probably skip this movie. Storyline update 2 is the latest version our articulate standalone elearning authoring software. Now, it's not to be confused with Articulate Studio, often referred to simply as Articulate. Because Studio was the only product from Articulate for the longest time, most people refer to it as Articulate. Well, Articulate, though, is the name of the company that manufactures both Studio and Storyline.
Studio allows one to edit slides using PowerPoint, while Storyline allows one to author courses using a single standalone program. And Storyline is loaded with tools to help authors of E-learning content to create things like product demonstrations to show learners how a product is supposed to work, software simulations, to show the software or a specific feature of that software in action.d Branched scenarios. To allow learners to focus on relevant content based on the selections they make and even soft skills and compliance traninig to ensure learners have their skills sharp and comply with various policies and procedures.
You can also create quiz's to test a learners comprenhenion of the content they just digested. So who would use a program like Storyline? Well, by far, the largest group of Storyline users will come form a training background. These folks have been using Storyline to author content and publish it to their learners, and they include corporate trainers, who might use Storyline to author software or product demos, simulations and Soft skills and compliance training. Also educators and learning and development personnel with limited programming capabilities will use Storyline for many of the same reasons. Sales and sales support people have been known to use Storyline as well to create compelling product demos and simulations for the products they sell. So now that we better understand what Storyline is and who is using it to create E-Learning.
