Where to get 3D models

- [Instructor] You'll want to try using 3D in your Storyboard files, but you don't know where to get 3D models. Well luckily, I'm here to help. In this course I've provided you with a couple different 3D models that you'll be able to use. But there're also a number of other places that you can find great 3D models either for purchase or for free. One of the ones I like to use is TurboSquid. They've got a bunch of 3D models that you can download for free. Just go there and you can do a search for them. Another thing you can do is create your own. I tend to use Sketchup Pro from Google, and that works really well. But if you don't know how to create 3D, you can also do something that I've done, is hire somebody. I've had to do that a number of times. And when the budget allows, hire someone. And one of the other great things about Sketchup is they also have free models. So if you go to the Window drop down and go to 3D Warehouse, I'll do a search for cars, they've got a ton of models that you can download. So this all works fantastic. But one thing with Sketchup that you need to be aware of is that the SKP format of file cannot be used in Storyboard Pro. Only the professional version of Sketchup, so not regular Sketchup, but Sketchup Pro has the ability to export a 3D model in an FBX format. Now, there are a number of other formats that Pro can also export. We always recommend FBX, but you need the Pro version of Sketchup to be able to do that. Now, there are other programs, whether it's Maya or 3D Max, any 3D program that can export one of the formats that Storyboard Pro can use will work great for you. So it is fast and easy to find 3D models, just make sure that you save or export your models into a format that Storyboard Pro can import. As I mentioned, preferably FBX, but you can also import OSB, 3DS, OBJ, ABC or DAE files.
