Benefits of 3D objects rendered in 2D

- [Instructor] If you have a 3D object, why not just in 3D? Why would you want to render it out as 2D, as I have selected here with this car that I've imported? Well, there's a few reasons. One, drawing in a 3D space is slower than just drawing in 2D. Drawing in 2D is what we're used to. It's much faster. In 3D, you have to figure out where you are in space. Another reason is you might just not be that comfortable working in 3D. It's a different way to work. Third reason, you might just simply not need to work in a 3D environment, so just bring in objects as 2D, and it's like working with photographs. Or, you might just want to use a 3D object to trace over it. So you might just want to import a 3D object to trace over. In which case, you would not need to go into 3D. It's easier just to work in 2D. So why would you want to do a quick trace over? Well, a lot of times it's so that the art is consistent in look, whereas this vehicle may not match in with your other artwork. So it's great to have options of using 3D objects in both 2D and 3D scenes.
