Analysis of variance

- [Instructor] Analysis of variance is an estimation procedure that allows you to quickly test group mean differences between a dependent and independent variable. This is called a one way analysis of variance. Typically, one will test three or more groups, as otherwise, we could have just used our previous t-test. If we have more than one independent variable, with two or more groups, we could perform a two way analysis of variance, although in this session, we'll only focus on the one way case. Analysis of variance, often called ANOVA, has a few assumptions, of which the most important one is your dependent variable must be measured continuously and your independent variable must be measured categorically with at least two, preferably three, categories. In this session, we'll explore the oneway command, which is a command specifically written to perform a one way analysis of variance.
