Planning your first no-code website

- [Jen] WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Weebly, Webflow, Editor X. These days there are so many choices for building websites without having to deal with any code. 10 years ago, you almost certainly had to know a little HTML to work with the most code free website design environments. However, the industry has grown and changed. Now there's tons of truly professional looking designs available without having to know a thing about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or web hosting. This course is designed to get you thinking about your website from the very beginning of building it for the first time, or from the very start of a site redesign. Rather than starting with a platform, a logo, fonts, or colors, we'll start with a site plan. What are our goals for this website? Who will it serve? How will we organize the website and convince visitors to buy our products? Later we'll focus on the fun stuff, images, colors, and fonts. Here we'll consider our brand, making sure that our photos, colors, and logos align with the feelings and the messages that we want to convey. We'll also cover tools for helping you pick a great color palette, even if you're the most color challenged individual, and we'll discuss how to get your images in shape for a quick display online. Finally, we'll talk about all of the different platforms available for building websites. What about flexibility in designing your site or thinking about exporting your data so that you can take it elsewhere if you decide to switch platforms. We'll identify the platform that's a best fit to your needs, your desires, and your technological ability. I'm Jen Kramer and I've been building websites professionally for over 20 years. These new no-code platforms are so exciting because you can build your own website and have your own voice online without going through a coding gatekeeper like me. So if you're ready, let's get started with planning your no-code website.
