Choosing and managing domain names

- [Narrator] A domain name is the web address you type into your web browser that takes you to a website of interest. For example, type in www.linkedin.com, and you'll arrive on the LinkedIn website. If you're going to have a website of your own, you too will need a domain name like this. So how might you pick a name and how do you go about getting a name? There are tons of possibilities for domain names out there. A top level domain indicates the endings on a domain name, like the.com in linkedin.com. The most common endings are .com .net or .org, and you're likely already familiar with these. Originally .com meant commercial, .net meant men an internet service provider and .org meant a nonprofit. However, these days, all of these endings are used in all kinds of circumstances. Some top level domains are highly regulated, like .gov for the US government, .edu for institutions of learning and .mil for the military.…
