Choosing great fonts for your website

- [Narrator] Fonts, so many choices which ones are amazing and which ones look cheesy. How do you tell one font from another? Fortunately there are four simple types of fonts you'll encounter. Let's go through each one individually and then we can talk about pairing fonts. The first type of font is the serif font it's called serif because of the little serifs that hang off the letters. The original purpose of a serif was to help align the handset type hundreds of years ago so that the eye would have a clear line to follow when reading. Historically, serif fonts were used for long pages of text, like a book. However, in our computer era type is always clean and clear so sometimes these serifs can get muddy on tiny screens in particular. Serif fonts are recommended primarily for headlines and large type on the web for this reason. Sans-serif fonts are well, French speakers yes, fonts without serifs these clean fonts…
