- [Instructor] The Spring Cloud set of projects allows a developer to write Cloud-native or Twelve-Factor applications out of the box. The Spring team in Netflix collaborated to build a set of projects that allow for externalizing configuration, service discovery, software load balancing, a self-contained circuit breaker technology, as well as the service consumption. My name is Frank Moley. I am a software, security, and technology architect.
I am going to take you through the Spring Cloud projects, piece by piece, on a journey to building Cloud-native applications that can be horizontally scaled in both traditional data centers, as well as public or private Cloud offerings. The patterns we will build off of are based on the Twelve-Factor application methodologies. We will leverage Spring Boot in Spring Cloud to deliver a set of web services that serve data, as well as one that serves business processes.
We will also build a front-end web application. Essentially, we will be refactoring the application for my Learning Spring with Spring Boot course to deliver this content. But, this time, we're going to add the Spring Cloud offerings. By the time this course is complete, we will have covered several of the tools in Spring, and specifically Spring Cloud, to help you build Cloud-native applications in your own organization.
