- This next tune incorporates something that we call a stick shot. A stick shot's played by planting the tip of the left stick into the center of the drum head, and hitting the shaft of the left stick with the shaft of the right stick. Art Blakey incorporated the stick shot into In Walked Bud, and listen to how this goes. (steady drum playing) So now when you incorporate that fill into a beat, it sounds like this.
