"Manish Boy" by Muddy Waters

"Manish Boy" by Muddy Waters

- Next, we're gonna learn a tune by the great Muddy Waters, and Willy Smith plays this beat on the song called Manish Boy. (drums) So, let's break this beat down. We're gonna play the bass drum every time we play a hi-hat, and we're gonna play the snare drum on beats four and 10. So, it sounds like this. (drums) Next, we're gonna play the same thing, but at the end of the beat, we're gonna move the right stick off the hi-hat and play it on the snare instead. And let me show you what I mean by that. (drums) And finally, in that space where we're playing triplets at the end, there's a little space there. We're gonna fill that with the left stick, so it's just an even triplet, and it sounds like this. (drums)
