- Now "At Last" also has a variation of that beat where there's more notes played in between the actual down beats, the 1/8 notes. So, this is what it sounds like: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. (simple drum beat) So to play that variation of "At Last" let's start off with what we were playing in example one, and it goes like this: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. (simple drum beat) Now, we're gonna play the same beat, but we're gonna start adding in some extra notes on the beginning and the middle of it. So it's gonna go like this: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. (more complex drum beat) Now, let's add in some extra notes so we play what we're playing in the beginning and the middle, we play that kind of on every phrase. And this is what I'm talking about. It sounds like this: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve…
