Drumhead selection

- I want to talk a minute about the different types of drumheads that are out there, and which drumheads might be right for getting the sound that you want. So, with all the different types of selections, really they mostly break into two types of drumheads. Single-ply or double-ply heads. Single-ply just means there's one piece of mylar film on the drumhead and double-ply means that there's two put together. Double-ply heads are a little bit thicker, more rap guys tend to play them, and single-ply heads are thinner, more resonant, they ring a little bit more, and jazz players like to use single-ply heads, generally. Now, drumheads come in clear finishes, they come in coated finishes, so this is a little bit rough, it's like sandpaper a bit. It gives you kind of a different sound, a little bit more, a little bit, not as bright and brittle. It kind of sounds a little bit more dark and warm. And they even come in black.
