Double time
- Another way a musician can manipulate time is by using accelerandos and ritardandos, and all that means is speeding things up, or slowing things down intentionally. Now, it's done really well on the song called "Stand" by the Blues Traveler. And it goes like this. (moderate drum music) (music gradually slows) (music gradually quickens) (music stops) So, on that example, I exaggerated the ritardando a little bit, and slowed it down a little bit less than 103, but you get the idea. I wanted you to understand the difference in the tempos and how that was all working. So, let's play an example where we just focus on that ritardando, and we slow it down, like this. (moderate drum music) (music slows gradually) (music stops) So, did you notice that it started slowing down during the fill, and then we played at the new tempo, 103 or somewhere around there.
