- This next beat is from Back in Black. It's a classic song off of AC/DC's hit album by the same name, and the drummer is Phil Rudd. He's such a great rock drummer, because he just plays the right beat, meat and potatoes, rock and roll. This song goes like this. (quarter notes on high hat) (basic drum beat) Now to play this beat, we're going to count eighth notes on the high hat. So, the quarter note is going one, two, three, four, and what eighth notes are is in between those notes, there's also another note. So you can count eighth notes like this. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. So, now I'm going to play eighth notes on the high hat and it sounds like this. One, two, three, four. (eighth notes on high hat) So now, now that we know how to get eighth notes happening with your right hand, we're going to play the snare drum on beats two and four. It goes like this.
