- I have been studying high performance in technology organizations for a number of years now as part of the State of DevOps Report working with Gene Kim, Doctor Nicole Forsgren, and the team at Puppet Labs. We've surveyed over 20,000 people across thousands of organizations to discover what makes high performance in both an organizational and an IT context. And the results have been really interesting. We've been able to look at high performing organizations, which we define as organizations that outperform their peers in terms of productivity, market share, and profitability. And we found that IT performance predicts organizational performance. High performers in IT are twice as likely to exceed their profitability, market share, and productivity goals than their low performing peers. IT does actually matter.
