Although each OS may have its own system architecture, it is useful to see a common architecture that addresses the features of an OS. Ryan first introduces the common architecture containing some hardware-dependent modules—e.g., sensors, etc.—and hardware-independent modules—e.g., communication software stack, OS core, etc. Then, Ryan overviews the architectural components of the latest FreeRTOS v10.0.0 and shows what an IoT device looks like from an OS's perspective.
