The LwM2M protocol uses the UDP and SMS transport channel bindings where the Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) is the basis for secure communications between a LwM2M Client and a LwM2M Server. Ryan introduces the security features in the LwM2M context, such as authorization, authentication, credentiality, and data integrity. In addition, three types of credentials used in DTLS are introduced.
