- [Instructor] Security is an important part of today's IOT system. And it involves multiple levels. Starting right from the single device. Including hardware and the software it's running. To the data transfers between the devices across communication networks. In general from operator's or user's perspective, no matter if we have a large or a small scale IOT system it's important to protect the device from being compromised and accessed by unauthorized users. To safeguard our device data and to ensure only trusted apps are used, depending on the rows of our device every device may be set up with a bunch of different security codes. For example in our smart home applications, we may not want our smart meters, smart lights, or garage doors to be controlled by the malicious users. Or we may not want these devices to get compromised by installing suspicious firmware images from unknown sources.
