Connected sensors

- [Instructor] Connecting a sensor to the Internet requires computing and networking, both of which are provided by the embedded system. The connected sensor requires both the sensor and the embedded system, and this is the same architecture that's used for actuators. Bringing it all together, the connected sensor consists of an MPU, I/O interfaces, power, and optional radios. The sensor consists of a transducer and an analog front end, or the actuator and the digital front end. There are two main configurations, stand-alone connected sensors and connected sensor arrays. A stand-alone connected sensor consists of a single embedded system with a single sensor, and it's added to existing products. Connected sensor arrays are one embedded system with multiple sensors. These are used in new products. For example, in our IoT dryer, we would use a connected sensor array.
