Creating a project and a user
In order to begin our work in Smoke, we are first going to create a project and user inside of Smoke, so let's launch Smoke. Either choose the Smoke icon from your dock or if you have it in your Applications folder, double-click it in there. We're going to explore a couple different options on this screen in order to get set up and ready to start working. The first thing we're going to look at is creating a project. Now, on my machine I already have some existing projects, so you may be seeing something different here, but we're going to start with a fresh new project. I'm going to click New. The first thing I want to point out is this option that says Volume. When you installed Smoke, you were asked for a location to store the Autodesk media storage. This is where Smoke will store any digital intermediates you create when you import media. I will explain that more fully when we import media.
