- [Instructor] When most people think of Skype, they think of an online video chat. In this video we'll take a look at how to use Skype for this reason. Now if there's someone you'd like to have a video chat with, the first thing you'll need to do is add them as a contact. In my case, I wanna have a video chat with my friend and coworker Toby and this is someone who I've already added as a contact. So, what I'll do is go to the top of my account and I'll click on Contacts, from here I can see that Toby is already one of my contacts, so I'll click on there and then on the main part of the screen, it's going to bring up any chat history that we've had, so here you can see that we've sent messages back and forth, I'd shared a file.
It will let you know if you've had any video calls or recordings and so on. So, if I wanna make a video call now with Toby, all I need to do is go into the upper right corner and click on the camera icon for a video call. I'm going to go ahead and do that. (ringing) Hello Toby. - Hello Oliver. - How are you today? - Good. - All right. Now, while I'm on the call, I have several options with some buttons that appear. You'll notice here on the bottom that I have the microphone icon and I can click on this to mute my microphone.
I also have the camera icon and if I click here, it will turn off my camera. Toby will still be able to hear me but she will not be able to see me. And then finally next to this, we have the button for ending the call. Over on the left-hand side, we have an icon for chatting and if I click on this, it allows me to chat with Toby during this call. So, for instance, here Toby, I'm going to share the URL for LinkedIn Learning that I was telling you about, I'll paste that in here. Once I have that in there, I'll click Send.
And let me know if you receive this in the chat. - I got it. - All right. All right, well, thank you very much, Toby, have a great day. - You too. - All right, I'll click to end the call and like that I was able to do this video call. So, that's how easy it is to perform a video call inside of Skype.
