- [Instructor] Our goal in this video is to quickly walk through use of the clipper tool which is essentially V-Ray's way of creating a render time section plane effect. Now, newer V-Ray users may be wondering why we don't just go ahead and use SketchUp's section plane tool as it is after all very easy to work with. Well, we could certainly go ahead and do that. In fact, let's apply the section plane to our butterfly, position it so that we get an interesting in view port effect and then take a render. And as you can see, everything works just as we would expect. However, this is pretty much all we can do with the section plane tool which of course is fine if this is all we need from it. The V-Ray clipper tool though is capable of bringing a little bit more to the table for us. To demonstrate, let's draw out a polygon shape underneath our butterfly geometry, extrude that up and then triple click in order to select everything and after coming to the Edit menu, turn that into a group as…
