Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the Tape Measure to create guidelines, part of SketchUp 2015 Essential Training.
- When we start drawing in SketchUp,…we'll always have the need to measure…and align things.…And we can use the tape measure tool to do that.…Now, you can find this tool in one of two places.…Here it is on the tool bar, it's called Tape Measure.…And under tools we also have Tape Measure…and the hot key for that is t.…So, if I select Tape Measure a little icon…that looks like a tape measure shows up.…So, we can use this to measure things.…So, let's say we wanted to measure the width of this…building all I have to do is align this to the end point,…left click and drag, and then it will tell…me this is thirty six feet wide.…
If I wanted to, say, measure the height of the building…again I can snap to the bottom corner,…go up to the top, and you can see…that's twelve feet, six inches.…Now, the tape measure tool can also be used…to create guidelines on which to draw.…So, let's say we wanted to create some…additional windows on this particular building.…If I flip around to the backside,…you'll see that I've got a blank wall…
