Using Section Plane to slice geometry - SketchUp Tutorial

Using Section Plane to slice geometry
- [Instructor] I created a landscape that goes around the house and during my modeling process I ended up with kind of a ragged edge here on my mesh. And I'd like to show you how to clean that up using the section plane tool. This is an unusual use of this tool. Normally the section tool is just used to cut through a building and get a plan or a section. But you can actually use it as a modeling tool. So let's go up to the Tools menu and choose the Section Plane and you're prompted to give it a name. I'll just call this Section 1 Symbol 1. And this would be useful if you were bringing this into layout where you had an actual section drawing that needed the correct labels. Now over here I'm going to position the cursor over this surface of the building and click. And that will insert the plane in that orientation. It cuts through the entire model because I'm applying this section plane at the top level. If I only wanted it to cut through the building and not the landscape I could group…
